About The Position

Guest services team members play an integral role in the growth of the institution, as they are the initial point of contact for all visitors. They are responsible for recognizing and engaging each individual as they seek to strengthen relationships and support of the museum. Guest services staff support the mission of the institution and are comfortable soliciting support through membership and Annual Fund. Team members must be self-motivated, enthusiastic individuals whom provide the highest quality of customer service to every guest.

Requirements

  • Basic computer skills required, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and basic database functionality.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and electronic communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, stay organized, and up-to-date with museum events and exhibitions.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of fundraising fundamentals, best practices and donor software such as Altru or Raiser’s Edge is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, time management, and project management skills.
  • Self-motivated, well organized, detail oriented, and able to effectively work independently and with a team.
  • Exceptional ability to build/maintain relationships and foster collaboration with staff, external donors, partners, Board, and volunteers.
  • Experience in a museum setting is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome guests in a friendly & positive manner
  • Drive membership sales and Annual Fund donations as a part of the Advancement & Communications team, ensuring Guest Services meets its goal in both areas
  • Operate cash drawer and ensure accuracy of daily deposits
  • Address guest needs and concerns in a proactive manner, ensuring quick resolution
  • Demonstrate awareness of, and experience with, numerous Outlook Calendars across two locations
  • Responsible for accurate database entry
  • Monitor cleanliness in all public spaces of the museum
  • Organize and operate coat check, as needed
  • Oversee miscellaneous projects, as assigned
  • Respond to online, phone, and in person requests
  • Support after hour events, when appropriate
