About The Position

The Guest Services & Traffic Attendant is responsible for creating a safe, organized, and welcoming arrival experience for residents, guests, and visitors at the hotel. This position provides assistance with luggage transportation, directs pedestrian and vehicle traffic in the porte-cochère and helps maintain a smooth flow of arrivals and departures while ensuring ADA accessibility and safety standards are followed.

Requirements

  • Must pass HBM prescreen check
  • Valid Hawaii Driver’s License required.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry luggage weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Strong situational awareness and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally, reading and in writing in English and Japanese preferred.
  • Previous experience in hospitality, customer service, valet operations, or traffic control is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome guests and visitors upon arrival in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Direct guests with luggage to the ADA elevator and discourage the use of escalators when transporting luggage or other large items.
  • Assist guests with carrying luggage up and down stairs when appropriate and when safe to do so.
  • Provide directions to building amenities, lobby areas, and other common destinations as needed.
  • Maintain a visible presence at the entrance to assist guests and answer basic questions.
  • Monitor vehicle traffic within the porte cochere to maintain an orderly and efficient flow of traffic.
  • Direct arriving and departing vehicles to appropriate loading and unloading locations.
  • Help prevent traffic congestion and bottlenecks by minimizing vehicle idling and encouraging drivers to move promptly after unloading.
  • Ensure luggage drop-off occurs in the designated area adjacent to the ADA elevator whenever possible.
  • Coordinate with valet, security, and building staff to maintain safe and efficient operations during peak arrival and departure periods.
  • Promote safe pedestrian and vehicle movement throughout the front entrance area.
  • Observe and report safety concerns, maintenance issues, or unusual incidents to the appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and provide exceptional customer service at all times.
  • Assist with other guest service or operational duties as assigned.
