About The Position

This is a part-time position responsible for providing excellent customer service to hotel guests. The role involves greeting guests, managing check-in and check-out processes, handling payments, answering phones, and resolving guest issues. The Guest Services Agent is expected to maintain a professional demeanor, adhere to hotel standards, and contribute to a positive guest experience.

Requirements

  • Self-starting personality with an even disposition.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times.
  • Ability to communicate well with guests.
  • Willingness to "pitch-in" and help co-workers, demonstrating teamwork.
  • Considerable skill in the use of a calculator for mathematical calculations without error.
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, including those requiring patience, tact, and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect information, and resolve conflicts.
  • Ability to stand and move throughout the front office and continuously perform essential job functions.
  • Ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system.
  • Ability to observe and detect signs of emergency situations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, customers, and patrons.
  • Adherence to hotel security policies and procedures, particularly regarding key controls, lifting heavy objects, using chemicals, and reporting safety hazards.

Responsibilities

  • Greet customers with a friendly and sincere welcome, using a positive and clear speaking voice.
  • Understand and respond to guest requests, providing accurate information about hotel services and local attractions.
  • Complete the registration process by inputting and retrieving information from a computer system, confirming guest details and room rates.
  • Promote Crescent and brand marketing programs.
  • Make appropriate room selections based on guest needs and code electronic keys.
  • Verify and imprint credit cards for authorization, handle cash transactions, and balance a house bank.
  • Accept and record various forms of payment, including vouchers and travelers checks.
  • Convert foreign currency at current posted rates.
  • Post charges to guest rooms and house accounts using the computer system.
  • Answer the telephone promptly with positive and clear communication, inputting and retrieving messages.
  • Retrieve mail, packages, and facsimiles for customers.
  • Close guest accounts at check-out, ascertain guest satisfaction, and negotiate compromises for any dissatisfaction.
  • Field guest complaints, conduct research to find solutions, and resolve problems such as price conflicts or environmental issues.
  • Remain calm and alert during emergency situations and heavy hotel activity.
  • Plan and implement detailed steps using experienced judgment and discretion.
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.
