About The Position

This position is responsible for cleaning guest rooms, restocking room supplies, and replacing dirty linens with clean items. The role requires self-inspection of rooms to ensure cleanliness standards are met and involves emulating a positive, upbeat, and heartfelt demeanor to deliver memorable experiences. This position also ensures the confidentiality, security, and accuracy of guest records, promotes positive guest and team member relations, and requires strong written and verbal communication skills. Outstanding guest service to team members, guests, and vendors is expected. Regular attendance is required, with occasional later hours or weekend time needed for project deadlines.

Requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Previous housekeeping or cleaning experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of, and willingness to learn, new cleaning methods is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Cleaning guest rooms including dusting, polishing, sanitizing, vacuuming, mopping, and disposing of trash and waste.
  • Making beds, changing, and restocking linens.
  • Restocking room supplies such as drinking glasses, soaps, shampoos, writing supplies, and wet bar/kitchen items.
  • Following hotel management procedures for proper entry into guest rooms and ensuring vacancy before entering.
  • Proper handling of Bio-Hazard material according to department procedures.
  • Attending annual Bio-Hazard training and certification.
  • Fixing any room issues discovered during the cleaning process, ensuring resolution before the room is changed to vacant inspected.
  • Following up as necessary with other teams/departments, including Maintenance and Preventive Maintenance, to ensure room issues are resolved.
  • Finding resolution to problems, if possible, before escalating to supervision or management.
  • Maintaining compliance with Lost and Found items handling according to current SOPs.
  • Inspecting and turning mattresses regularly.
  • Storing all dirty laundry in line with company policy.
  • Checking all appliances in rooms for proper working order.
  • Realigning furniture and amenities according to prescribed layout.
  • Responding to guest queries and requests.
  • Responding to calls for housekeeping problems such as spills or broken glasses.
  • Delivering any requested housekeeping items to guest rooms.
  • Removing room service items.
  • Organizing and restocking the cart at the end of the shift.
  • Ensuring confidentiality and security of guest rooms.
  • Following all company safety and security procedures as well as legal regulations including OSHA.
  • Reporting any maintenance issues or safety hazards.
  • Observing and reporting damage to hotel property.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
