About The Position

This is a seasonal part-time role focused on the repair and maintenance of holiday displays and equipment at Stone Zoo. The position requires a focus on electrical troubleshooting and repair, as well as the ability to work independently or as part of a team. The role involves both indoor and outdoor work, including performing physical labor, maintaining work areas, inspecting rides, and interacting with guests and team members. Computer skills are also necessary for this position.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in maintenance including familiarity with electrical systems.
  • Ability to maintain a good attendance record.
  • Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license in good standing.
  • Ability to work outside in changing weather conditions.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a diverse workplace.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively.
  • Ability to perform all duties such as snow removal, etc. as requested.
  • Must be able to respond to on-call situations when scheduled.
  • Computer skills including email, Microsoft office, Internet, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Performs manual labor related to the repair and maintenance of holiday displays and equipment.
  • Focuses on electrical troubleshooting and repair.
  • Repairs or modifies existing holiday and other displays.
  • Meets maintenance deadlines.
  • Works in a team environment and independently with minimum supervision.
  • Works in indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Performs physical labor as defined by projects.
  • Completes assigned work and preventive maintenance with an emphasis on electrical troubleshooting and minor repairs.
  • Uses basic power and hand tools.
  • Makes repairs to existing holiday structures and displays.
  • Maintains clean, safe, and inviting work areas, including sweeping, shoveling, and removing snow and ice.
  • Assists in inspecting rides for cleanliness and proper functioning.
  • Performs routine tours throughout the Zoo for maintenance purposes.
  • Communicates in a professional manner to Zoo guests and employees.
  • Works outside in changing weather conditions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
