About The Position

Aspira Douglas Crossing Retirement Living is seeking a part-time Guest Attendant to join their team. This role involves providing support with activities of daily living and housekeeping services, utilizing customer service principles to ensure exceptional service. The Guest Attendant will work in a fast-paced environment, forming a deep understanding of residents' needs and building relationships with them and their families. The position contributes to the home's culture, focusing on helping residents live fully every day. The Guest Attendant is accountable to the Director of Wellness and may assist with recreation programs. Duties must be performed consistently with core values, ensuring resident safety and demonstrating customer service excellence.

Requirements

  • Must have ‘Safe Serve’ designation
  • One year experience in dining room service
  • Ability to work independently and/or as a member of a team
  • Effective verbal and written English communication skills required.

Nice To Haves

  • Current CPR training
  • Guest attendant training recommended
  • Experience working with seniors
  • Knowledge of the aging process

Responsibilities

  • Provides supervision and/or assistance to the residents in the activities of daily living including eating, dressing, transferring, toileting, hygiene, grooming and bathing as per the residents’ individual plan of care to meet their needs and expectations.
  • Answers all resident call bells and door alarms promptly and provides courteous service.
  • Transports residents to and from their rooms, recreational activities, health office and dining room as required.
  • Completes laundry and housekeeping duties as outlined by assignments.
  • Deals tactfully and courteously with residents, residents' families and reports any concerns / complaints to the supervisor.
  • Practices safe food handling techniques throughout all aspects of food preparation and service.
  • Participates in admission orientation and the transfer process of residents as directed.
  • Works with other departmental personnel to ensure continuity of care.
  • Cooperates with and assists all outside agencies that work in the home.
  • Communicates with Director of Wellness about problems related to resident care and/or safety.
  • Notifies the General Manager / Director of Wellness of any team members/resident incidents and completes documentation as required.
  • Completes resident engagement activities as required.
  • Ensures that own personal grooming is appropriate and uniform/dress is clean, tidy and according to dress code.
  • Maintains all areas of the building in a tour ready manner.
  • Greets all visitors in a positive and supportive manner requesting if they need assistance of any kind.
  • Promotes and maintains positive communication and relationships with all team members.
  • Demonstrates personal attributes and communication skills that foster customer satisfaction at all times.
  • Advises supervisor or designate immediately of all team members incidents that may result in an Occupational Accident Claim, any concerns with the physical plant, incidents or injuries and completes required reports.
  • Follows all health and safety policies and procedures. Works safely to reduce the risk of injury to self, co-workers, and residents.
  • Wears personal protective equipment as designated.
  • Maintains a clean, safe environment for residents utilizing infection control principles.
  • Maintains a sound working knowledge of their role & responsibilities during all Emergency situations when working different shifts.
  • Participates in drills to prepare for emergencies and attends all education sessions in relation to emergency preparedness.
  • Works in accordance with the organization’s Health and Safety Policies and Procedures and in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
