Your day to day as a Guest Advocate (PT) As a Guest Advocate at the Particular Council of St. Vincent de Paul in Baton Rouge, you will play a vital role in supporting shelter operations and ensuring a safe, clean, and orderly environment for our neighbors. Your compassionate service will engage and empower individuals experiencing homelessness, allowing you to make a direct impact on their lives. Responsibilities include managing shelter routines, supervising guest chores, and ensuring the secure use of shelter resources. You will also be responsible for entering and auditing guest information in the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS), while diligently maintaining confidentiality and data integrity. Working collaboratively with other staff, you’ll help provide quality support, fostering a welcoming atmosphere that aligns with our mission. Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • A minimum of two years of direct experience working in human services
  • Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Exceptional organizational skills for both physical and electronic filing
  • Commitment to data compliance and confidentiality
  • Respect Catholic Social Teachings and embody the mission of SVDP
  • Ready to navigate both the office and community environments effectively

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) or similar client data management software
  • Ability to engage with neighbors compassionately and supportively
