We are a prominent mid-size law firm with a high-volume practice looking to increase its talented ranks of attorneys by adding an Associate Attorney to its Guardianship and Elder Law Department.

Requirements

Juris Doctor degree (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
Licensed to practice law in New York State.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Demonstrated ability to be flexible and effectively prioritize work tasks.
Comfortable working with all levels of business professionals, including senior management and colleagues across departments, in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

Experience in guardianship, elder law, Medicaid planning, or a related practice area. Preferably 4+ years of experience.

Responsibilities

Experience in all phases of litigation, including drafting pleadings, legal research, motion practice, and making frequent court appearances, both remotely and in person, in a variety of venues.
Experience with Mental Hygiene Law Article 81 guardianship proceedings, including both contested and uncontested matters.
Familiarity with Medicaid planning, eligibility, and public benefits advocacy.
Practice before the Surrogate’s Court and the Supreme Court.
Effective advocacy on behalf of elderly individuals, individuals with developmental disabilities, and those requiring long term care planning and public benefits assistance.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate concisely and persuasively.
Frequent interaction with clients, court personnel, and adversaries.
Working as part of a supportive and collaborative team.
