About The Position

Under general supervision, this role involves screening vendors, visitors, facility contractors, and utility/service companies. The Guard is responsible for checking employee identification badges, ensuring the facility is secured at all times, completing log and incident reports, interfacing with outside security services, and responding to emergency calls during off-duty hours. This position also performs related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Considerable experience, training, and/or certification in security guard procedures.
  • Considerable knowledge of security patrolling procedures.
  • Ability to write clearly and precisely activity and incident reports.
  • Ability to understand, post instructions, and maintain a log of shift activities.
  • Ability to communicate and work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to understand and follow company security policies and procedures.
  • Ability to drive and maintain an electric cart in safe and clean operating condition.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions.
  • Ability to patrol facilities for security purposes.
  • Ability to operate a sit-down floor sweeper.
  • Ability to reach, bend, stretch, lift, and pull doors and gates of various weights and configurations.
  • Ability to perform essential functions of the job.
  • Regular punctuality, attendance, and absence reporting in conformance with company policies is essential.
  • Fully comply with company rules, policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Relieve outside security service officer at the start of the shift and review the activity log report.
  • Unlock the parking lot gate and supervise the entry of employee vehicles.
  • Check for company identification badges on employees entering the gate and lock the gate to the parking lot at the beginning of the working shift.
  • Log in and out all vendors, visitors, freight vehicles, and facility and utility services.
  • Issue and collect temporary visitor badges.
  • Periodically patrol the entire facility.
  • Ensure that specified doors and perimeter gates are locked.
  • Check with office personnel before allowing anyone without an appointment to enter the facility.
  • Re-inspect and secure the facility, gates, buildings, and doors prior to the end of the shift.
  • Record the transference of keys to the outside service security officer relieving the night shift security representative.
  • Visually inspect first shift employees leaving the facility and check for unauthorized company property being removed.
  • Maintain a log of incidents violating security policies, safety policies, or any unusual activities.
  • Contact police, fire, and/or medical services in case of emergency and direct them to the appropriate area upon arrival.
  • Monitor company security cameras for anything out of the ordinary, document, and bring to the attention of the Security Manager or Security Lead person.
  • Operate the sit-down floor sweeper, as directed.
  • Maintain regular punctuality, attendance, and absence reporting in conformance with company policies.
  • Fully comply with company rules, policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to ensure safe and effective operations.
