About The Position

Performs unarmed security guard and access-control duties at designated installation access control points (IACPs) and posts on Redstone Arsenal in support of the Directorate of Emergency Services (DES) Army Security Guard (DASG) mission. Controls entry and exit of personnel and vehicles, verifies identity and credentials, conducts inspections, operates physical access-control equipment and barriers, responds to incidents, and writes factual reports - protecting personnel, property, and information on a Federal installation.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident, legally authorized to work in the United States
  • At least 21 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Communicate clearly in written and spoken English; able to write factual reports
  • Valid driver license if assigned driving duties
  • No disqualifying criminal, security, employment, substance-abuse, or integrity history; must favorably complete NCIC-III and U.S. Army Crime Records Center checks and installation adjudication, and obtain and maintain installation access
  • Eligible for an Alabama Security Regulatory Board (ASRB) security officer license/registration; application required within 30 days of employment; must complete Board-approved training and maintain the license/temporary card on duty
  • Ability to pass a post-offer medical examination and the AR 190-56 Physical Agility Test (currently 19 push-ups in 2 minutes; 1.5-mile run in 17:30) before first posting and annually thereafter
  • Successful completion of the Company 40-hour core training course and the 16-hour Government/DASG installation block (56 total hours), including written/practical tests and OC, baton, handcuffing, first aid, and CPR qualifications, before independently standing post

Responsibilities

  • Control pedestrian and vehicle access at assigned IACPs and posts; verify identification, credentials, and installation passes using authorized procedures and equipment (including AIE - Automated Installation Entry)
  • Conduct personnel, vehicle, and hand-carried-item inspections per post orders, RAMP (Random Antiterrorism Measures Program), and installation policy
  • Grant or deny access decisions with 100% accuracy per post orders and directives
  • Operate access-control devices, active vehicle barriers (AVB), traffic-control equipment, radios, and related systems; meet readiness standards including AVB activation within 3 seconds and J-911 notification within 10 seconds when directed
  • Detect, report, and respond to suspicious persons, vehicles, packages, and gate-runner incidents; execute Grand Slam, AVB Grab 300, and related installation protective procedures
  • Direct turnaround of unauthorized vehicles; manage oversize/emergency vehicle and motorcycle entry per procedures
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, and emergencies; provide immediate notification (within 5 minutes) of reportable incidents through the chain of command
  • Apply approved use-of-force standards; employ OC spray, expandable baton, and handcuffs only as authorized and trained
  • Provide first aid, CPR, and tourniquet application as needed until relieved by emergency services
  • Write clear, accurate, complete incident and daily reports before end of shift; complete all required forms
  • Maintain professional appearance, courtesy, and customer service (≥90% customer-service standard) consistent with AR 190-56 and Company policy
  • Maintain accountability of issued uniforms, ballistic vest, and duty equipment; report loss or damage immediately
  • Safeguard PII, CUI, and operational information; no unauthorized photography, recording, or social-media release
  • Perform duties outdoors in all weather wearing approximately 30 pounds of duty equipment/PPE, including prolonged standing, walking, and alertness across full shifts
  • Complete and maintain all required training, licensing, medical, and physical agility requirements
  • Immediately report arrests, charges, adverse information, license or access loss, or fitness-for-duty concerns
  • Perform other duties as assigned consistent with the contract scope
