About The Position

This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable. As part of a hardworking team of cross-functional specialists and engineers, you will work with test engineers to design test equipment, tooling, ground support equipment (GSE), and other hardware for various spaceflight and test systems. You will create CAD models of tools and equipment, create assembly drawings of test configurations, create drawings, and facilitate proper format and file management in the Windchill life cycle application. You will support Test and GSE Leads by carrying out design and CAD activities in accordance with Blue Origin and national consensus standards and complete tasks including: Develop conceptual and detailed design of test GSE, tooling and fixtures Develop/create test assembly and test setup models Produce/review drawing packages for fabrication and assembly of test tooling and fixture designs Develop and approve design specifications and statements of work for development of test GSE. Evaluate and approve designs and analysis performed by other engineers and vendors Assist in fabrication, installation, verification and checkout, and commissioning of tools and equipment Participate in tooling cost estimates, vendor evaluation and selection, and cost reduction activities Provide technical guidance and support in the implementation and use of tooling by test personnel Provide other emergent tooling and engineering support to test personnel as necessary Maintain and report on activity schedule, budget, and technical status We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Requirements

  • B.S. degree or higher in mechanical, structural, or other relevant engineering field
  • 5+ years’ experience in the design of GSE for production, manufacturing, and/or testing of launch or aircraft vehicles and associated support systems.
  • Strong mechanical design and integration skills using 3-D CAD software
  • Familiar with applicable ASME standards, such as ASME Y14.100, Y14.5, Y14.41
  • Experience with vendors or contractors during the design, fabrication, and installation phases of the tooling and equipment design process
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture.
  • A continuous improvement mindset.
  • Strong ability to work independently on specific tasks and projects while supporting and coordinating with a larger team

Responsibilities
