About The Position

Perform maintenance, repairs, and inspections on a wide range of ground support equipment used in airport operations. Ensure all GSE is in safe, reliable working condition to support efficient airport activities while adhering to FAA regulations and airport safety standards.

Requirements

  • ASE Certifications
  • Experience with electrical and alternative fuel GSE
  • Knowledge of Florida’s Climate-related challenges for equipment maintenance
  • Basic Computer skills for record keeping and parts ordering.
  • Ability to read an electrical schematic and hydraulic schematic
  • Highschool diploma or equivalent Required.
  • Ability to pass Federal Fingerprint Background Check - the Federal Fingerprint Background Check is not limited to 7 years but checks your entire lifetime. Felonies will not be cleared.
  • Ability to pass a 10 Panel Drug Test - The Full Panel Drug Test DOES include testing for THC. SAA is a drug free workplace.
  • Favorable Moving Violation Report (MVR) - The Moving Violation Report Check is checking for a DL suspension, several moving violations, DUIs, etc. to your current employer until you are confirmed clear.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical school certification in automotive or aviation mechanics or trade school training or completion and/or mechanical background a plus but not preferred
  • Welding and cutting equipment: Welding machines and cutting torches a plus but not preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with all Federal, provincial, municipal, airport authority and carrier security requirements.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on various GSE, including baggage tugs, belt loaders, pushback tractors, ground power units, air conditioning units.
  • Perform scheduled inspections and preventive maintenance on GSE
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Execute repairs and replacements of GSE components as needed
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, parts usage and equipment status
  • Respond promptly to emergency repair calls and equipment breakdowns
  • Ensure compliance with all safety procedures, FAA regulations, and airport policies
  • Assist in Maintaining a clean and organized work area.
  • Collaborate with team members and other departments to ensure efficient GSE operations
  • Participate in ongoing training to stay current with new technologies and repair techniques
  • Must be able to operate and drive all types of various GSE equipment motorized and non-motorized.
  • Perform or assist with any operations, as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements.
  • Notify supervision of unusual equipment or operating problems and the need for additional material and supplies.
  • Maintain safe work area and comply with safety procedures and equipment operating rules keeping work area in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Participate in any variety of meetings and work groups to integrate activities communicate issues obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements and policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Able to research and other parts needed from certain vendors.
  • Able to use fleet maintenance program
  • Willing to work outside in all weather conditions year-round.
