About The Position

Picnic is reinventing the employee lunch experience by partnering with local restaurants to offer high-quality, individually packed meals without extra fees. The City Growth Lead bridges central teams and local market realities to own growth in their city. This role involves closing new accounts, prospecting, driving expansion within existing customers, increasing order volume through site visits, and running local marketing events. The Growth Lead also serves as a crucial source of field intelligence, informing HQ decisions about market opportunities and operational realities.

Requirements

  • 2 or more years in a growth, sales, business development, partnerships, or account expansion role.
  • Bachelor’s degree from a top university.
  • Proven ability to run a deal from first meeting through close.
  • Demonstrable experience building and maintaining professional relationships.
  • Strong communicator, comfortable with executives, building managers, office admins, and community leaders.
  • Highly organized: able to juggle a live pipeline, field visits, marketing activations, and outreach.
  • Comfortable with data: Google Sheets, dashboards, and basic funnel metrics.
  • Self-starter who does not wait to be told what to do.

  • Experience at an early-stage startup.
  • Background in food, hospitality, real estate, or local community ecosystems.
  • Experience working alongside or managing SDRs.
  • Event planning or grassroots marketing experience.
  • Familiarity with CRM tools or operations platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Close new accounts from warm leads with SDR support, and prospect own leads when SDR support is limited.
  • Map and prioritize office opportunities across the city, tracking building types, employee count, density, and decision-maker access.
  • Own deals from first meeting through close and onboarding, ensuring a great first experience.
  • Work with SDRs on territory prioritization and shape outreach targeting based on market knowledge.
  • Run a consultative sales process to understand and meet company needs.
  • Drive growth within existing accounts by visiting locations, identifying expansion opportunities (additional offices, more dining slots, higher employee participation), and flagging accounts with growth potential or churn risk in partnership with the National Accounts team.
  • Turn happy customers and office admins into referral sources.
  • Partner with the central restaurant team on cuisine selection based on local demand signals and operational constraints.
  • Bring back local demand signals regarding cuisine preferences and what works operationally.
  • Plan and run grassroots marketing initiatives such as flyering, pop-ups, office samplings, happy hours, and admin appreciation events.
  • Build a Picnic community across social media, industry channels, and in-person activations.
  • Capture and report competitor moves, building trends, and employee behavior insights to the central team.
