Growth Analyst, Market Intelligence

recoursehealth.comSan Francisco, CA

About The Position

Recourse is building the first intelligent system designed to operate within the federal arbitration system called Independent Dispute Resolution (IDR), which determines billions of dollars in healthcare payments annually. While providers win the majority of disputes, many eligible claims are never filed due to the manual, fragmented, and resource-intensive nature of the process. This role is crucial for transforming raw public data from CMS dispute outcomes into a strategic advantage. The data, though public, is large, inconsistently formatted, and difficult to analyze, requiring domain expertise to interpret. Success in this role will involve producing unique market insights, identifying potential customers, tracking competitor performance, and anticipating regulatory shifts.

Requirements

  • 2+ years in analytics, data science, strategy, consulting, investment banking, or a similarly quantitative early career.
  • Strong SQL and spreadsheet skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with large, messy public datasets and produce trustworthy results.
  • Hands-on fluency with AI tooling, having used it to ship or accelerate real analytical work.
  • Clear written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex analysis into easily understandable content for executives.
  • A preference for small teams and early-stage environments over mature organizations.
  • Sound judgment, analytical rigor, and an ownership mindset.
  • Grit.

Nice To Haves

  • Python or R skills.
  • Healthcare data experience.
  • Familiarity with claims, revenue cycle, the No Surprises Act, or CMS data specifically.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain our model of the market from CMS public use files and other public sources.
  • Size the opportunity for individual prospects, determining if and what a health system is under-filing and its cost.
  • Produce prospect analysis that our partnerships team uses in initial conversations.
  • Track competitors: who is filing, how much, how well they are doing, and what that indicates.
  • Monitor regulatory and market shifts and identify their implications for our strategy before they become obvious.
  • Build tooling to make analysis repeatable rather than a manual quarterly exercise.
  • Turn analysis into usable outputs such as briefs, one-pagers, and models that influence decisions.
