About The Position

DeVry Greenhouses is seeking a Grower – Nursery to join our team at our Holland, Michigan location. This role is an opportunity to take ownership of crop quality, plant health, and production outcomes in a fast-paced, quality-driven nursery environment. As the Grower – Nursery, you will be responsible for supporting crops from production through shipping, making informed growing decisions that directly impact plant quality, readiness, and customer satisfaction. This position is best suited for a grower who values discipline, consistency, follow-through, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate takes pride in producing healthy, high-quality plants that meet specifications, ship on time, and represent DeVry’s standards at every stage.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience growing nursery, greenhouse, or containerized crops at a commercial scale.
  • Strong working knowledge of irrigation, fertility, crop monitoring, and IPM practices.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and execute in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Strong sense of ownership, quality focus, and follow-through.
  • Ability to make practical growing decisions based on crop needs, timing, and quality standards.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on nursery environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Spanish language skills are considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Own plant quality and crop health for assigned nursery crops from production through shipping.
  • Execute irrigation, fertility, climate, and IPM programs to meet quality, yield, and readiness targets.
  • Monitor pest and disease pressure and support IPM-first, compliant growing practices.
  • Conduct regular crop checks and take timely corrective action when needed.
  • Monitor pH/EC levels, maintain accurate records, and follow crop plans.
  • Execute crop plans aligned with product specifications, spacing standards, and committed ready dates.
  • Forecast, order, and manage growing inputs to support uninterrupted production.
  • Support and guide nursery team members to help meet crop and quality objectives.
  • Maintain accurate plant availability and readiness information.
  • Proactively communicate crop status, quality concerns, and timing updates with leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Inspect outgoing product to ensure plants meet DeVry’s quality standards before shipment.
  • Collaborate with Growers, Team Leads, and other departments to support continuous improvement and broader operational needs.
  • Duties and responsibilities may evolve based on seasonal and operational needs.
