The Grower Liaison is responsible for functions that include grower visits; touring packhouse facilities and greenhouses, to ensure that product packing specifications are met. This role will support the Director of Procurement in managing all growers and product supplier’s, their qualities and volume of product, to ensure needs of the company sales goals are consistently met. The Grower Liaison will develop and maintain a network of current and potential growers, focusing on increasing quality and acreage representation. This position works to establish and build strong relationships with growers, and as a company representative, they will ensure that there is mutual respect, above all else.

Requirements

  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish required; proficiency in both verbal and written knowledge
  • Minimum of two years experience in produce or agriculture required
  • Access to a well-maintained vehicle to be used for travel between growing operations; mileage reimbursement provided
  • Intermediate level in Microsoft (MS) Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) required
  • Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices, Health and Safety, Food Safety, HACCP and PrimusGFS programs
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Commitment to high professional and ethical standards; sound decision making skills
  • Proven ability to work in a high-stress and fast-paced environment, demonstrate keen attention to detail, as well as consistent follow-through skills
  • Exceptional analytical and organizational skills are essential; results oriented with a demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize workflow
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment

Nice To Haves

  • Post-secondary education preferred; Bachelor’s Degree in business, or relevant field is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain strong business relationships with both internal and external customers and growers
  • Support negotiations with packhouse staff and growers to ensure adherence to company specifications
  • Attend trade shows as required; network, create and solidify relationships, and communicate with existing growers and customer base; follow up on new leads
  • Create and deliver presentations to growers and customers
  • Regular communication with procurement department and growers; ensure quality and volume of product meets sales targets
  • Ensure new and existing growers are food safety certified and compliant with company standards
  • Regularly travel to inspect growing operations and greenhouses
  • Report all food safety and quality concerns to personnel with authority
  • Stay current and continually update knowledge of company standards and product specifications
  • Other core expectations as defined by the company
