About The Position

We’re looking for an energetic, motivating, and passionate individual to join our team as a Group Fitness Instructor at Mountainside Fitness — an upscale health club where members and employees feel welcomed, valued, and supported. As a Group Fitness Instructor, you’ll lead dynamic and inclusive classes, motivate members of all fitness levels, and create a positive environment where everyone feels encouraged to reach their goals. You’ll bring energy, expertise, and enthusiasm to every class while providing safe, effective, and enjoyable workouts that keep members excited to come back.

Requirements

  • Must have valid, current, and approved certifications for all class formats instructed.
  • Must be able to safely perform all class movements.
  • Must be able to provide clear verbal and visual cues.
  • Must be able to provide modifications/options as needed.
  • Must be able to arrive 10 minutes prior to the start of each class.
  • Must wear the designated MPower uniform top.
  • Must begin and end classes as scheduled and on time.
  • Must be able to welcome new Members.
  • Must be able to utilize the Mountainside App.
  • Must be able to make club announcements.
  • Must maintain professionalism and positive conduct.
  • Must act in the best interest of Members.
  • Must build positive relationships and foster an inclusive, supportive atmosphere.
  • Must educate Members on proper exercise techniques.
  • Must share current fitness knowledge and best practices.
  • Must facilitate communication between Members and club management.
  • Must check email regularly and respond in a timely manner.
  • Must assist with class coverage and substitute classes when available.
  • Must participate in club events.
  • Must support fellow Instructors and new class launches.
  • Must maintain a positive and respectful attitude.
  • Must promote Mountainside Fitness and personal classes through social media and community engagement.
  • Must join and participate within the BAND app.
  • Must treat all equipment, electronics, and club facilities with care and respect.
  • Must clean up after classes.
  • Must ensure all equipment is returned to its designated storage area.
  • Must maintain cleanliness and organization within the studio and workout spaces.
  • Must complete all training within 30 days.
  • A drug test is required before starting work.
  • Must abide by minimum safety guidelines as determined by MSF, with recommendations from ACE, AFAA, and current research.

Responsibilities

  • Understand, comply with, and remain accountable to all policies outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Complete all required new hire training prior to teaching their first class.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines established by Mountainside Fitness and applicable certification organizations.
  • Understand and follow the Class Coverage Policy.
  • Accurately record class attendance for every class taught.
  • Teach a minimum of 75% of regularly scheduled classes.
  • Maintain valid, current, and approved certifications for all class formats instructed.
  • Demonstrate proper exercise form and possess the physical ability to safely perform all class movements while providing clear verbal and visual cues as well as modifications/options as needed.
  • Arrive 10 minutes prior to the start of each class.
  • Wear the designated MPower uniform top.
  • Begin and end classes as scheduled and on time.
  • Welcome new Members by introducing yourself, explaining the class format, outlining expectations, and assisting with equipment setup, as needed.
  • Utilize the Mountainside App to communicate class reminders, announcements, and equipment needs to members.
  • Make club announcements during class when appropriate.
  • Maintain professionalism and a positive conduct at all times.
  • Act in the best interest of Members and deliver classes which align with the approved class format and description.
  • Build positive relationships and foster an inclusive, supportive atmosphere.
