About The Position

This role supports the Gun Violence Intervention Program (GVIP) by providing data-driven intelligence to identify, prevent, and disrupt violent crime, with a focus on gang and group-related shootings. The analyst will collect and analyze data on firearm-related incidents, identify trends and patterns, maintain accurate datasets, and utilize geospatial mapping tools. Responsibilities include monitoring social media for threats, producing intelligence briefings, collaborating with various agencies, and supporting program evaluation. The role also involves developing data visualizations and assisting with special projects while ensuring adherence to confidentiality and ethical guidelines.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Provide data-driven intelligence to identify, prevent, and disrupt violent crime, with a focus on gang and group-related shootings.
  • Collect comprehensive data on firearm-related incidents, including homicides, non-fatal shootings, aggravated assaults, and related violent events.
  • Analyze incident data to identify trends, patterns, contributing factors, and emerging threats affecting community safety.
  • Maintain accurate, organized, and up-to-date datasets, case files, and intelligence logs to support ongoing investigations and program operations.
  • Utilize geospatial mapping tools to identify hotspots, micro-locations, retaliation cycles, and geographic patterns of violence.
  • Identify gangs, crews, and informal groups involved in violent activity and monitor their dynamics, conflicts, and affiliations.
  • Track victim and suspect demographics, group associations, and interpersonal conflicts to support proactive intervention and prevention strategies.
  • Monitor social media platforms and open-source information to detect threats, violent messaging, escalating disputes, and high-risk events such as short-term rental gatherings.
  • Assess online content such as posts, lyrics, videos, and livestreams for indicators of potential violence or retaliation.
  • Produce intelligence briefings, threat assessments, bulletins, and weekly reports for command staff, GVIP teams, and partner agencies.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, community partners, outreach workers, and analysts to share intelligence and support coordinated intervention efforts.
  • Support program evaluation by contributing data for performance metrics, outcome reporting, grant compliance, and strategic planning.
  • Develop visualizations, charts, and summaries that communicate complex data in clear, actionable formats for decisionmakers.
  • Assist with special projects, research initiatives, and analytical tasks that enhance the effectiveness of GVIP operations.
