About The Position

This role is responsible for the supervision and safety of children, assisting with daily care activities, implementing curriculum, communicating with parents and staff, managing behavior, maintaining health and hygiene standards, record-keeping, and supporting parental involvement. The position requires flexibility and availability for various shifts, including potential summer work, school breaks, and holidays. Requirements

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human service field.
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human service field and 1 year experience with children.
An associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human service field and 2 years of experience with children.
An associate’s degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human service field and 3 years of experience with children.
Appropriate clearances and trainings: PA State Criminal History Record, Child Abuse Report, FBI Criminal History Report, and Mandated Reporter Training. Clearances must be kept current.
CPR Certification
Physical done within one year prior to start date
TB test within three months prior to start date
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds on a regular basis
Sitting, standing, walking, bending and stopping for long periods of time up to eight hours per day

Responsibilities

Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times.
Supervise indoor and outdoor activities, maintaining a secure environment.
Assist with feeding, diapering, toileting, and other basic care routines.
Foster independence in children by encouraging self-help skills appropriate to their age.
Follow the daily schedule and implement age-appropriate activities.
Support classroom staff with games, arts and crafts, learning activities, and other developmental experiences.
Maintain positive communication with parents, children, and fellow staff members.
Collaborate with colleagues to help ensure consistent care and support for children.
Encourage positive behavior through patience, redirection, and positive reinforcement.
Address challenging behaviors in a calm and professional manner.
Help maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards within the classroom and facility.
Follow all health and safety procedures and administer basic first aid when necessary.
Assist with documentation related to daily activities, incidents, and observations as needed.
Support positive relationships with families through professional and respectful communication.
Must be flexible and available to work shifts based on program and staffing needs.
