Group Operations Manager, Surgical Services

StepfulNew York, NY
$163,000 - $206,000

About The Position

Stepful is reimagining allied healthcare training by offering affordable, online, instructor-led, and AI-supported programs that help learners—regardless of background or circumstance—launch high-demand healthcare careers. In addition to our direct-to-consumer training, Stepful partners with leading healthcare institutions to address the growing national shortage of healthcare workers. Our graduates, including Medical Assistants, Pharmacy Technicians, Nurses, and more, form the talent pipelines at major employers like CVS, NY-Presbyterian, HCA, Providence, and Walgreens. Stepful is backed by Y Combinator, Reach Capital, and AlleyCorp, with a recent $55M Series C led by Oak HC/FT. We were named the #1 EdTech company in the U.S. for 2025. We’re improving access to quality healthcare for everyone, everywhere, and improving access to healthcare careers for those who need them most. Stepful is expanding into new allied healthcare programs, and Surgical Technology is one of our most strategic bets. We're building the enterprise infrastructure to deliver this program at scale — to health systems and employer partners who are counting on us to get it right. As Group Operations Manager, Surgical Services, you'll own the end-to-end operational success of our enterprise Surgical Tech program. That means building the playbooks our partners rely on, managing the relationships that make those programs work, and bringing together the internal teams — Customer Success, Solutions Architecture, Learning, Product & Engineering — who each have a role to play. This is a senior people manager role on a team where the work is genuinely hard and genuinely matters and will report to our Director of Operations.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of operations, program management, or consulting experience, with significant B2B or enterprise focus
  • Demonstrated experience building playbooks or standardized operating procedures for complex, multi-stakeholder programs
  • Strong external relationship management skills — you're comfortable in client-facing settings and can hold your own in a room with health system executives
  • Track record of aligning internal cross-functional teams around a shared operational goal
  • Experience managing and developing a team
  • Ability to zoom out to strategy and zoom in to execution — sometimes in the same meeting

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in healthcare workforce, clinical training, or allied health programs
  • Worked in a high-growth startup scaling an enterprise business
  • An MBA or equivalent analytical background

Responsibilities

  • Own the Surgical Tech enterprise program. You are responsible for the entire program lifecycle—from the moment a health system signs up to the point their employees graduate and enter their roles. This includes onboarding, program delivery, partner reporting, and ensuring renewal readiness.
  • As part of the design process, you are expected to be a thought leader in defining what education looks like in practice and helping students achieve mastery.
  • Build enterprise playbooks. Design the operational blueprints that let us run this program consistently across multiple enterprise clients — onboarding workflows, escalation protocols, quality review frameworks, outcome reporting. These playbooks should work whether we have 3 partners or 30.
  • Align internal stakeholders. Customer Success owns the relationship. Solutions Architecture scopes the deal. Learning designs the curriculum. Product and Engineering build the tools. Your job is to make sure all of them are working toward the same outcomes for the client — and to resolve the friction when they're not.
  • Lead and develop a team. Manage a team of operations managers and coordinators supporting the enterprise Surgical Tech program. Set clear expectations, develop your people, and build a team culture that can handle the complexity of enterprise delivery.
