About The Position

WSP is seeking a Group Manager to lead their Lower Mainland Archaeology team, part of the Heritage business in BC and Yukon. This is a dual role involving leadership of a 15+-person team and providing senior-level technical and project management expertise for various projects. The role is based in the Lower Mainland of BC, with offices in Vancouver, Burnaby, and Langley. The Group Manager will play a critical role in delivering strategic objectives and growing heritage-related services.

Requirements

  • An undergraduate degree in Archaeology or Anthropology.
  • At least 10 years of relevant consulting experience.
  • 10 years of experience or more in a consulting environment with a focus on archaeology projects.
  • Registered Professional Consulting Archaeologist in good standing.
  • Self-motivated leader with excellent inter-personal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, team environment.
  • Proven track record of successful business development.
  • Proven track record of fostering client relationships.
  • Strong demonstration of health and safety leadership.
  • Commitment to technical excellence.
  • Ability to write proposals and technical reports.
  • Strategic and business planning experience.
  • Financial, forecasting and budgeting experience.
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to prioritize and manage deadline pressure, ambiguity and change.
  • Ability to build partnerships across disciplines and areas of expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate company policies and mandates to the Archaeology team and oversee their application.
  • Foster collaboration across the Archaeology team and other WSP Business Lines.
  • Inspire team commitment to WSP Guiding Principles and Vision.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to Archaeology team project managers.
  • Participate in business development activities to support growth of the Archaeology team and strengthen client relationships.
  • Lead monthly group meetings for the Archaeology team.
