Requirements

  • 18 years or older, required
  • Qualified PCF Packer and/or Offstacker, required
  • Previous instruction and training experience, strongly preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of workflow and all basic skills needed to be successful in the Paper Cup Forming Department
  • Well-developed communications and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Maintains positive team environment
  • Demonstrated positive attitude and patience in high-stress environments/situations
  • Demonstrated traits of respect and integrity
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and highly detail oriented
  • Basic computer literacy and keyboarding skills; familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Ability to perform the essential physical functions of the position, with or without accommodation. This includes walking or standing for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours; climbing stairs; lifting up to 50 pounds; carrying up 30 pounds; lowering up to 30 pounds from a height of 4 feet; pushing up to 250 pounds using carts or other various tools; visual acuity and depth perception; working in various temperatures and humidity levels.

Responsibilities

  • Work within and adhere to GPI’s core values of Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships and Teamwork
  • Adhere to plant and corporate safety policies by always performing duties in a safe and orderly manner; be actively engaged in all safety programs
  • Ensure production and distribution of products are consistent with established food safety, sanitation, and quality standards
  • Maintain 5S in assigned area by keeping work area and equipment clean and orderly
  • Set the example for other employees concerning work practices and attitude
  • Manage workload as necessary to ensure production requirements are fulfilled
  • Lift, carry, and lower boxes up to 50 pounds to a height of 7 feet
  • Sort and stack boxes of finished product onto correct pallets
  • Attention to detail and visual acuity to prevent mixing product on pallets
  • Read and scan labels, move loaded pallets, complete paperwork, communicate with others
  • Perform basic computer skills, including scanning product, data entry, and printing pallet tickets
  • Perform all tasks necessary to complete product packaging within the assigned work area
  • Safely operate and maintain all machines in the Packout Area (Rennco, Tape machine, etc.)
  • Make required adjustments to minimize machine down time and maximize production
  • Create assignments for employees daily
  • Give and document safety briefings to employees before the beginning of each shift
  • Ensure labeler is clean and maintained
  • Segregate spoilage and recyclable items, placing material in appropriate containers
  • Obtain and replace shipping film, as needed
  • Ensure accountability among Offstackers for safety, quality, production, procedures, housekeeping procedures, and company policies
  • Manage and relieve employee breaks, ensuring maximum production and that all employees receive their authorized breaks
  • Instruct, train, and mentor new Offstackers in the day to day operations
  • Assist Quality, Die Cutting and Printing Departments in sorting defective raw materials and finished products, as required
  • Ensure all daily equipment paperwork and logs are completed within the department
  • Perform department inspections with the outgoing/incoming Lead Packer and communicate current jobs, scheduled product runs, changeovers scheduled, machine status, personnel updates, training needs, immediate changes, and issues in the department.
  • Notify Shift Supervisor or Group Leader of any issues that arise beyond the scope of the Lead Packer’s duties including product quality, damages, excessive spoilage, mechanical problems, shortage, or timeliness of supplied materials
  • Once qualified, instruct and train other Lead Offstackers in proper procedures of the position
  • Actively participate in daily team production meetings and communicate key training items within the plant environment on safety, quality, maintenance, production, and continuous improvement
  • Record and maintain various production data
  • Meet required Key Performance Metrics
  • Fulfill overtime requirements as necessary
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned; assisting in other areas as required by changing business needs
