About The Position

Our Whitby Site specializes in commercial manufacturing for a full range of conventional dosage forms with specialized capabilities, and houses a fully integrated pharmaceutical development services (PDS) facility. This role ensures the efficient completion of packaging floor activities to meet scheduled production deadlines and product quality standards, adhering to regulations from agencies like HPFBI, FDA, and EMEA. The shift schedule is Monday - Friday, 6 AM – 2:30 PM.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/General Educational Development (GED) Certificate is required.
  • Minimum 3 years of previous packaging/processing and machine operating experience in pharmaceutical, food or cosmetics industry.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Solid background in line management.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and meet tight timelines and make quality decisions.
  • Excellent knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices including excellent understanding of Standard Operating Procedures and of safety regulations.
  • Proficiency with the English language.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
  • Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong demonstration of computer skills (including SAP) considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure quality by confronting/correcting Good Manufacturing procedure (GMP) infractions.
  • Direct packaging operations to ensure priorities including staff selection and training, product scheduling and targets are being met.
  • Plan and coordinate material flow to and from the line operations.
  • Manage the daily distribution of work for lines.
  • Trouble shoot line problems and source appropriate action if required.
  • Perform line start up (Line Clearance).
  • Review in-process and Acceptable Quality Level (AQL) checks from each line.
  • Assist in training and development of line leaders and operators and provides performance feedback to management.
  • Assist in investigation of Deviation Reports (DR).
  • Act as back up to Line Leader and/or Packaging Supervisor.
  • Support Line Leaders in managing employee relations issues on the line.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and report potential hazards.
  • Performs alternating or rotating shift work.
