The Y serves as an anchor in the community offering programs and services encompassing youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The YMCA at Alexandria is hiring dedicated and enthusiastic Group Leader II for our School Age Child Care program. This is a meaningful opportunity to positively impact children’s lives in a supportive and collaborative afterschool environment.

Requirements

Experience working with elementary-middle aged children in a school or childcare setting
High school diploma or GED required
Strong interpersonal and behavior management skills
CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

Supervise and engage school-age children in recreational, academic, and enrichment activities
Create a safe and stimulating environment for all participants
Provide guidance and positive behavior support
Maintain communication with families and program staff
Ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times
Reports concerns, conflicts, or other problems directly to the supervisor
Assists with parent/community council yearly calendar
Assists with holiday giving program, clothing drive, and emergency food pantry
Supports and participates in community events
Attends parent/child events as required
Makes outreach and reminder phone calls
