About The Position

As a Group Lead, you’ll be part of our Shelbyville Manufacturing team working as an on-site employee. You’ll get to practice and enforce all safety procedures, use of PPE and safe equipment operation, help to create a culture that minimizes safety hazards, train team members to report all accidents, near misses, and potential hazards. You will be accountable for housekeeping and 5S implementation in your assigned area. You will provide effective leadership and guidance to the team within assigned functional areas, addressing people-related matters with professionalism and integrity. You will facilitate onboarding and training programs for new employees, including both full-time and temporary staff. You will be a 5S champion, accountable for the support, implementation, & auditing of the 5S program. Ensure all work instructions are followed, inspections are completed, set-up and first piece process is followed. Audit process as needed to ensure compliance. You will be an active member in monitoring and reducing process related scrap. Maximize machine utilization by attaining 90%+ of published target. Minimize downtime by immediately reporting machine breakdowns, material shortages, or quality concerns. Work closely with the quality team by immediately reporting quality concerns to minimize scrap. Ensure all scrap is tagged for disposition and moved to organized in the proper locations at the end of every shift. Ensure standard work instructions are adhered to throughout the shift. Implement Lean Manufacturing techniques including 5S, Problem Solving, Visual Factory, and Standard Work. Lead and support daily huddle and tier meetings, ensuring their effectiveness and promoting team alignment. You will be an active member in executing the daily/weekly production schedule in the area ensuring efficiency and achievement of required quantities. Make changes as needed including but not limited to manning moves, OT, etc. You will have the ability to work outside normal working hours, including Saturday, as needed to support customer requirements. Provide meaningful & timely feedback to Leadership. Support coaching and recognition for the team. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Able to use/learn Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Able to use/learn SAP or similar software
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving skills
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Consistently demonstrates highest level of personal ethical conduct
  • Results driven with emphasis on keeping customer and business commitments

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to be trained & operate a PIV (Powered Industrial Vehicle) preferred but not required
