About The Position

Responsible for the overall safety, quality, and efficient operation of the processes within their area of responsibility. This role requires a working knowledge of all equipment within the assigned area, with the ability to train others. The Group Lead acts as a leader to develop operator job knowledge and utilizes continuous improvement to achieve established objectives.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • One year or more automotive manufacturing experience.
  • Must be able to perform and understand all job functions of a production operator.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written work instructions.
  • Ability to write effective correspondence.
  • Ability to write work instructions and set up procedures.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to lead corrective action or continuous improvement teams.
  • Effectively represent the company professionally to customers, suppliers and other associates within the organization.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as addition, subtraction, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to work without close supervision.
  • Frequently required to stand, sit, walk, use hands to feel or handle objects, tools or controls; reach and lift with hands and arms; talk, see and hear.
  • Required to rotate their torso and view behind them to operate required equipment.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be available to work scheduled overtime and assist in emergency situations.
  • Must have the flexibility to work various shift hours.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Perform supervisor's responsibilities in their absence.
  • Follow all established company policies and procedures.
  • Coach, mentor, and inspire Associates.
  • Coordinate safety improvement projects and participate in injury 5-why corrective actions.
  • Determine and acquire necessary tools for production operators.
  • Maintain PPE cabinet inventory and notify supervisor of shortages.
  • Ensure production boards are reviewed and initialed hourly.
  • Perform daily 6-S audits and follow up on identified issues.
  • Perform daily production scheduling and ensure schedule attainment.
  • Lead and direct production associates.
  • Manage hold areas and ensure timely product disposition.
  • Lead meetings with production associates to discuss objectives and improvements.
  • Review OEE information daily and ensure raw data accuracy.
  • Communicate new quality or process changes and ensure proper training.
  • Ensure production associates are trained on equipment and maintain documentation.
  • Maintain training matrix boards and ensure accuracy.
  • Provide clear communication to supervisor and technical services regarding production issues.
  • Complete daily shift notes for assigned work centers.
  • Evaluate operator performance issues with supervisor regarding safety, quality, efficiency, and accountability.
  • Understand M2K and C2K issues and maintain accurate inventory via cycle counts and adjustments.
  • Lead and participate in corrective action or continuous improvement activities.
  • Create and/or assist with work instructions for new and existing processes and maintain their accuracy.
  • Be available for future training as deemed necessary.
  • Safely and efficiently perform all assignments.
  • Effectively train future individuals given this position.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the supervisor or designee.
