Group Lead - Manufacturing Engineer

About The Position

The group leader for manufacturing process engineering will be responsible for day to day engineering and problem solving within the Electric Rack Steering assembly area. This position will manage the team responsible for ensuring targets are met in regards to safety, quality, cost and delivery by reducing scrap, improving cycle time, and other process improvements. In this role, the incumbent will work hand in hand with Planning Engineering, Maintenance, Operations, Quality, and Logistics to ensure that we are meeting our targets.

Requirements

Bachelors of Science in Engineering from an accredited institution with minimum 5 yrs. experience in a manufacturing or other relevant industry experience.
Experience with assembly processes
Strong management and leadership skills
Strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills
Analytical problem solver; experience with RedX methodology or other problem solving tools

Responsibilities

Directs engineering work for manufacturing engineers supporting the problem solving process for scrap reduction, cycle time reduction, and overall process improvements
Supports continuous improvement activities to improve safety, quality and productivity for assigned areas of responsibility
Responsible for budget planning for line improvement activities, builds business cases and manages spending according to plan
Ensure the equipment OEE, rejects/FTT, and IDC (scrap cost) are meeting the business targets
Support and ensure the operations team is able to meet their production targets
Coordinates the engineering change process for the ER value stream in close collaboration with design engineering, quality engineering and logistics
Create, manage and maintain high performance culture within the engineering team
Participate and build international and national network within the company
