About The Position

The Arc of the Quad Cities Area is seeking a Residential Supervisor for one of their group homes. This role involves overseeing 8 individuals, managing daily operations, and ensuring the smooth running of the home while prioritizing residents' needs. It is a full-time, exempt position requiring 40 hours per week, with initial hours of Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The role demands flexibility, including working at least one weekend day or night per month and one late-night shift per week, with some evenings and weekends required. The supervisor will also be responsible for on-call duties and responding to calls outside regular hours. This is not an office-based job; the supervisor will perform diverse roles including Direct Support Professional (DSP) duties, payroll, scheduling, and grocery shopping. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask are crucial for creating a positive environment for staff and residents. The supervisor must be comfortable performing DSP duties during absences, training, or emergencies to address urgent issues and support residents.

Requirements

  • Proof of High School Education is required.
  • Valid driver's license in good standing, appropriate auto insurance, and approval by the Agency's auto insurer for driving agency vehicles.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds—to assist in lifting and transferring individuals weighing more than 100 lbs.
  • Ability to kneel, bend, and move from standing to floor to assist or care for individuals.
  • Ability to stand/work on feet for 90% or more of the scheduled shift.
  • Ability to sit periodically during the shift to complete documentation; sitting may be required for less than 5% of the shift.
  • A minimum of one year of direct service experience in human services is required.
  • Ability to perform written documentation clearly, accurately, and completely.
  • Direct Service Provider certification in Illinois is preferred, or it must be obtained within 120 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • BA or BS in human services is preferred.
  • One year of supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to learn computer applications as they become required for documentation and overseeing timecards.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise staff, including training, scheduling, monitoring, evaluating, and disciplining.
  • Complete classroom and on-the-job training; evaluate staff performance.
  • Manage site operations, maintain a positive environment, and ensure cleanliness. Conduct monthly disaster drills.
  • Ensure staffing coverage for all shifts, including evenings and weekends. If coverage cannot be arranged, you will be responsible for covering the shift.
  • Provide 24-hour on-call coverage by carrying a cell phone as assigned.
  • Monitor funds, process purchase orders, and record attendance and billing.
  • Review and maintain documentation. Help obtain prior approvals for additional supports, advocate continuously, maintain clinical records in accordance with regulations, address issues proactively, and communicate effectively with all involved.
