About The Position

This casual position is responsible for teaching Yoga group classes for members at any or all fitness levels. The instructor organizes choreography, attends scheduled Yoga instructor and general staff meetings, and teaches classes as scheduled. The role includes leading safe, engaging classes; supporting participants with alignment cues and modifications; and creating a welcoming studio environment.

The position is scheduled for 4 hours per week on the day shift at Wheeling Hospital’s Health and Wellness cost center in Wheeling, West Virginia. Yoga instructor certification through a Yoga Alliance Certified Site must be obtained within six months of hire, and AED/CPR certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Obtain Yoga Instructor certification through a Yoga Alliance Certified Site within six months of hire.
• Obtain AED/CPR certification within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to organize and prioritize time and tasks to coordinate work and meet schedules.
• Knowledge of and ability to follow attendance, punctuality, timecard, and scheduling policies.
• Knowledge of parking and hospital department locations.
• Knowledge of and adherence to the dress code.
• Knowledge of the Compliance Program, Code of Conduct, and confidentiality requirements.
• Knowledge of the Emergency Management Plan and applicable emergency codes.

Responsibilities

• Lead a safe and engaging class for participants with different experience levels.
• Provide alignment cues and modifications for participants.
• Arrive prepared and manage class schedules as assigned.
• Create a welcoming studio environment for all participants.
• Model stretches and postures clearly and explain proper alignment to help prevent injury.
• Offer training recommendations to improve participants’ yoga practice.
• Organize choreography for classes.
• Attend scheduled Yoga instructor and general staff meetings.
• Follow applicable attendance, punctuality, timecard, scheduling, dress code, confidentiality, compliance, and emergency management policies.
