About The Position

The Group Fitness Team Lead (GFTL) is responsible for overseeing the Group Fitness program at their assigned VASA Fitness club. This role involves managing class schedules, developing and coaching instructors, and ensuring that all classes are motivating, uplifting, safe, inclusive, and community-driven. The GFTL collaborates with other team leads and the General Manager to increase class attendance and maximize group fitness usage, ensuring all classes meet VASA's high standards. This position offers opportunities for personal and professional growth by enhancing the member experience through fun, effective, and community-focused classes.

Requirements

  • Nationally accredited certification required.
  • Current CPR/AED certification required.
  • Experience leading, coaching, teaching, or performing in front of groups.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • General knowledge of kinesiology, exercise science, and physical fitness.
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and urgency.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Passion for fitness, community, and helping others reach their goals.
  • 3+ years of experience teaching group fitness, small group training, or boutique fitness classes.
  • Nationally accredited Group Fitness Certification required (recently expired certifications may be renewed within 30 days of hire).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in specialty studios preferred.
  • Experience with Les Mills or other structured fitness formats is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Group Fitness program in the club.
  • Manage class schedules.
  • Develop instructors.
  • Ensure programming is high-energy, safe, and inclusive.
  • Grow class attendance and maximize group fitness usage.
  • Ensure every VASA class reflects high standards of quality and care.
  • Recruit, hire, and develop a high-performing team of Group Fitness Instructors.
  • Coach instructors through regular feedback, practice sessions, and in-class evaluations.
  • Collaborate with other Team Leads to align schedules and support overall club performance.
  • Ensure rooms and equipment are clean, safe, and fully operational.
  • Execute playbooks, marketing initiatives, and programming standards.
  • Create a culture of enthusiasm, accountability, and connection within the team.
  • Analyze class counts, usage trends, and schedule performance to grow class attendance and engagement.
  • Build and maintain class schedules that are competitive, on-trend, and convenient for members.
  • Report maintenance needs promptly.
