Georgetown University Group Fitness Instructors are responsible for designing and leading members through safe and effective workouts. Group Fitness Instructors must be personable, self-motivated, and have a passion for helping individuals achieve their fitness goals. Group Fitness Instructors should possess knowledge of basic anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, group class structure, proper form, and cueing. The Group Fitness program provides students and members with an opportunity to participate in a variety of group fitness offerings that encourage and support a healthy lifestyle in a fun environment. Supporting Georgetown University’s Cura Personalis value, this position allows the instructor to offer individualized attention to participants, providing a unique exercise opportunity. Collegiate recreation participation may hold the key to academic performance; recent studies show a rise in students’ GPA and likelihood of graduation as their exercise and physical activity behaviors increased. This instructor will interact with Georgetown University students, faculty and staff as well as Yates Field House community members, encouraging individuals to partake in a holistic, healthy lifestyle.
