About The Position

The Group Fitness Instructor is responsible for leading and growing participation in prospective classes, managing movement techniques and safety, and creating a positive experience for participants. This role requires effective communication with the Group Fitness Coordinator and management, as well as the ability to operate audio equipment. The instructor will also be responsible for completing reports, providing equipment recommendations, and actively recruiting new members. Participation in group fitness meetings and feedback sessions is expected, along with maintaining up-to-date certifications and completing annual continuing education.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 1 year experience based on certification OR on-going mentorship program with group fitness supervisor preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the stereo and microphone system.
  • Communicate with the GF coordinator via email correspondence on a regular basis. Other methods of communication may be in person, via text, via scheduling platform – GroupExPro or other system.
  • Effectively lead and grow participation in prospective classes, according to the group fitness supervisor or other management.
  • Effectively manage movement techniques and safety during prospective classes.
  • Comply with certification requirements in teaching class and designing class.
  • Create an overall “positive” experience in regard to programming and effectiveness of class.
  • Complete and submit monthly volume and class instruction reports per the direction of the group fitness supervisor or other management.
  • Provide equipment recommendations based on class needs and programming.
  • Actively recruit new members for group fitness classes and membership.
  • Participate regularly in group fitness meetings and feedback sessions.
  • Work in GroupExPro for class management OR other system if updated/changed.
  • Keep certifications up to date and participate in annual continuing education per direction of certifying body and/or group fitness supervisor.
