About The Position

The Group Fitness Instructor is engaged in Health First’s commitments to delivering quality care and customer experience by servicing members’ needs through orientation, education, instruction, and evaluation in the area of health and fitness. Evening availability and Cycling Class experience are required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED OR American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) Healthcare provider completion card prior to start date and maintained.
  • Group exercise certification by: Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA), American Council on Exercise (ACE), FITOUR or other approved certifying body.
  • Specialty certification required for: Yoga, Pilates, Group Cycling, and other approved specialty programming.
  • Good personality and enjoy working with different populations.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Ability to perform physical demands of teaching and substituting exercise classes.
  • Demonstrate (verbally and physically) modifications for all ability levels.
  • Knowledge of aquatic exercise principles.
  • Evening availability.
  • Cycling Class experience.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) years’ experience in a wellness, fitness, or group exercise function.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe and effective classes consistent with class descriptions.
  • Ensure areas are tidy, clean, and organized with oversight of members’ safety and adherence to policy.
  • Work with leadership to add new programming and classes to enhance member experience.
  • Modify class content to accommodate various ability levels.
  • Report any customer and/or safety concerns to Pro-Health leadership.
  • Develop music for use with appropriate class population.
  • Arrange for substitute instructors and notify coordinator of arrangements.
  • Responsible to handle an emergency code in regard to American Heart Association’s Heartsaver CPR & AED Program. Must be ability to handle the code alone if necessary.
  • Utilize equipment in a safe and knowledgeable manner and report equipment in need of repair or replacement.
  • Provide a structured class with music utilization, motivation, and proper cueing techniques.
  • Observe class participants to facilitate proper format and provide corrections for safety.
  • Provide excellent customer experience by answering questions related to a members’ workouts.
