About The Position

Svetness Corp is seeking a group fitness instructor who will lead members, in a group environment, through safe and effective fitness classes for a company located in the fashion district of Los Angeles. This position is responsible for providing group exercise fitness instruction and supervision in a variety of formats. Candidates must be able to instruct multiple fitness levels and ensure the safety of all patrons in the class. This person will enforce all building policies pertaining to group exercise and be able to communicate these to a diverse group of patrons why policies are in place. The instructor will serve as a resource to educate members on various aspects of fitness and wellness, and are responsible in ensuring that safety of the members is not compromised. A group fitness instructor will act as a role model and resource for all patrons and staff. The class will be made up of first time group fitness instructors and will most likely have 5 to 6 people attending the class. There is some equipment in the building that can be used and they are willing to purchase other small equipment if needed. The class will start with low impact exercises. The class will be held every Wednesday from 5:30 to 6:30 pm and the building is located in the 900 block of East 10th Street, LA (Fashion District). The instructor must always be on time and there is free parking onsite.

Requirements

  • Current, nationally accredited group fitness certification.
  • Strong passion for motivating and supporting participants in achieving their health and wellness goals.
  • Proficiency in modifying exercises and adapting programming in real-time.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Clear and effective verbal communication skills.
  • Dependable and punctual.
  • Physical ability to demonstrate exercises, stand for extended periods, and safely lift and move equipment (minimum of 45 lbs. overhead).
  • Dedication to ongoing professional development.
  • Current Group Fitness and CPR/AED certification and must maintain certification throughout employment.
  • Certified to lead group fitness class.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience leading successful dance classes in a group fitness setting.
  • Current CPR/ AED/ First Aid certification (or obtain within 30 days of joining).
  • Valid nationally accredited group fitness certification and/or license in the format of instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Lead welcoming, engaging, and safe group fitness classes for a large student population, including individuals of varying abilities and fitness levels.
  • Modify exercises and adapt programming in real-time to meet participants' needs while supporting a safe environment.
  • Maintain a consistent teaching schedule and communicate in advance regarding absences or coverage needs.
  • Lead safe and engaging group fitness classes.
  • Create class formats for different fitness levels.
  • Provide ongoing encouragement and instruction to participants.
  • Enforce all building policies pertaining to group exercise and communicate these to a diverse group of patrons.
  • Serve as a resource to educate members on various aspects of fitness and wellness.
  • Act as a role model and resource for all patrons and staff.
