About The Position

Muir Wood Teen Treatment is seeking licensed Per Diem Group Facilitators to lead therapeutic groups in their Joint Commission-accredited residential program for adolescents ages 12–17. This role offers flexibility, allowing facilitators to set their own availability and be matched with open shifts as needs arise. The ideal candidate will be looking for an ongoing relationship, becoming familiar with the teens, milieu, and clinical approach over time. This position is well-suited for clinicians with private practices or part-time roles seeking additional flexible clinical hours, those between positions wanting to stay sharp, semi-retired clinicians desiring meaningful work without a full caseload, or those exploring residential adolescent treatment.

Requirements

Master's or Doctorate in psychology, counseling, social work, or MFT
Active California license in good standing: LMFT, LCSW, LPCC, PhD, or PsyD
Experience facilitating therapeutic groups in a clinical setting
Competency in at least one evidence-based modality (DBT, CBT, ACT, or trauma-focused)
Familiarity with adolescent development, co-occurring disorders, and trauma-informed care
Must pass a LiveScan background check

Nice To Haves

Experience in residential, inpatient, IOP, or PHP settings with adolescents
DBT training, especially skills group format
Background in substance use, dual-diagnosis, or family systems work

Responsibilities

Facilitate DBT, CBT, ACT, and trauma-informed group therapy sessions
Lead psychoeducational, skills-based, and process groups for adolescents in residential care
Manage group dynamics and maintain a safe therapeutic environment
Complete group notes and clinical documentation per program standards
Coordinate with the Clinical Director and residential therapists on group content
Respond appropriately to crisis situations and notify clinical staff immediately
