Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • 1+ years experience in the insurance/financial services industry
  • Knowledge of group benefit contracts and products
  • Experience with account reconciliations or payroll calculations
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Ability to prioritize and innovate
  • Analytical thinking and good communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingualism (English/French) would be an asset

Responsibilities

  • Processes premium payments, refunds, overdue accounts and policy terminations
  • Reconciles billings for specialty partners, investigates and communicates any discrepancies to ensure the accounts are accurate
  • Compiles and reconciles month-end and year-end accounting and reinsurance reports, as well as investigate any account discrepancies for Corporate Accounting
  • Supports Administration Services Only (ASO) group accounts, including quarterly and yearly reporting statements
  • Compiles and balances provincial and federal tax submissions for all tax accounts and reports directly to Canada Revenue Agency and Revenue Quebec
  • Prepares and ensures the timely and accurate release of invoice payments to vendors and disability claimants
  • Provides prompt and courteous resolution of inquiries regarding financial and accounting transactions for group clients’ accounts and/or disability claimant benefits from both internal and external sources
  • Provides support, guidance, and training to new employees or cross-training initiatives
  • Accurate and timely completion of reconciliations and databases to support controls framework for the Group Division
  • Uses knowledge of industry standards, internal processes and thinks creatively to provide solutions and resolutions to administrative/accounting issues
  • Work on Ad-hoc tasks as required
