About The Position
This is a full-time position where the Groundsperson works from the ground to keep the work area clear of debris using various tools and equipment. The role involves ensuring safety practices, preparing materials, operating trucks and equipment, performing basic maintenance, and safeguarding employees and the public from hazards. The position may require long hours and overtime during emergencies, and specific hours will be assigned by a supervisor. The Groundsperson may be required to work overtime and/or weekends.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience in electric utility vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military industries preferred.
- Valid Driver’s license required.
- CDL preferred.
- Position requires employee to be able to pass a background check and drug screen as required for this job.
- Must meet I-9 requirements.
- This employer participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your Form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in electric utility vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military industries preferred.
- CDL preferred.
Responsibilities
- Works from the ground to keep work area clear of debris using handsaws, pole saws and pruners, hand pruners, loppers, and gasoline-powered equipment to cut brush and trees.
- Define staging areas.
- Setting up and breaking down material, tools, and equipment as required.
- Prepare and feed brush into woodchipper.
- Loading and unloading trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris.
- Operating various trucks and equipment as assigned.
- Perform basic maintenance service on trucks and equipment; keep trucks and other assigned equipment in neat and orderly fashion; report the need for major repairs to truck and equipment.
- Tying knots, rope breaks, and speed lines according to industry standard.
- Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the work area.
- Flag traffic to protect employees and the public from potential harm or injury.
- Able to work long hours and overtime during emergencies.
