Seasonal Groundsperson
About The Position
This position is for a Full Time Seasonal Groundsperson at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Thunder Bay, Ontario. The role involves creating and maintaining outdoor spaces where families honor and remember loved ones. The successful candidate will perform ground burials and cremation niche interments, handle all aspects of cemetery care including customer service, memorial and monument installations, equipment maintenance, and grounds maintenance. The position is based on a 40-hour work week and may require overtime as needed. This is a 6-month contract position with one vacancy.
Requirements
- Minimum grade 12 education or equivalent.
- A valid driver’s license with a clean driving abstract.
- Ability to lift and carry 50lbs.

Nice To Haves
- Mechanically inclined having either formal mechanical training or experience.
- Heavy equipment operator’s training or certification.
- A certificate in Integrated Pest Management (IPM).
- A team player, with a positive attitude and the ability to multitask and set priorities.
- Previous landscaping, horticultural and/or cemetery experience, and a demonstrated interest in working outdoors.
