About The Position

As a Groundsman at Moon Valley Nurseries, you will play a versatile role in supporting various aspects of nursery operations and customer service. Your responsibilities will include performing a range of tasks such as equipment maintenance, yard organization, and customer assistance. This position requires flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to contribute to the overall success of the retail yard. The role involves performing manual labor to assist with maintenance, storage, and customer order fulfillment in the landscape nursery. Tasks include mixing soil, excavating, raking, and filling buckets and boxes for planting. The position is full-time with open availability for day shifts, including weekdays and weekends.

Requirements

Ability to perform manual labor.
Ability to follow specific instructions and safety protocols.
Demonstrated availability to work any day of the week.
Regularly required to verbally exchange information with colleagues, managers and vendors.
Must frequently reach for, pull, lift, and/or move items weighing up to and over 75 lbs.
Must be able to work outdoors for extended periods of time in possibly extreme conditions, including rain, heat, sun, and wind.
Subject to MVR and criminal background check in accordance with applicable fair chance laws, rules, and regulations.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience with operating power tools, hand tools, and other equipment preferred.
High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist with organizing and maintaining the nursery yard to ensure a clean, orderly, and attractive appearance.
Rearrange plants, trees, and other merchandise, and clean and tidy up the yard area.
Perform routine maintenance and repair tasks on nursery equipment, including vehicles, forklifts, and hand tools.
Ensure that all equipment is in proper working condition and safe to use.
Assist with loading and unloading plants, trees, and other nursery products into a variety of vehicles.
Provide friendly and helpful customer service to ensure a positive shopping experience.
Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while performing tasks in the yard.
Transport and mix topsoil, fertilizer, peat, and other soil-conditioning materials using hand tools.
Excavate, rake, and screen soil to fill buckets and boxes for planting.
Other duties and tasks as assigned.
