About The Position

The Groundskeeper reports to the Maintenance Supervisor. The Groundskeeper is responsible for all outdoor maintenance to the grounds and buildings. This position requires an individual with general grounds keeping knowledge. The Groundskeeper works with limited supervision from maintenance supervisor therefore the ability to work independently, safely and efficiently is required. The Groundskeeper must have sufficient strength and manual dexterity to operate power equipment and must be willing and able to work outdoors all year round. This employee must know how to operate all machinery associated with groundskeeping (i.e., power mower, chain saw, power hedge trimmers and power leaf removal equipment, etc.). They must also be able to maintain and make minor repairs to the equipment. The employee must be able to stand, crouch, and climb to use ladders and perform various types of manual labor. Dependability and attention to detail are required characteristics. Also, the Groundskeeper must be willing to assist others in the Maintenance Team and/or do the functions they are capable of when needed. The Groundskeeper also provides relief for the Facilities Janitor in their absence. This work environment involves occasionally handling hazardous chemical, therefore the ability to utilize a personal respirator is required. The physical demands of this position involve standing for extended periods, working in extreme heat during the summer months and regularly lifting items weighing between 40 - 50 lbs (unassisted).

Requirements

Must be able to utilize a tablet & the Company CMMS
High School Diploma or GED
Requires a minimum of 6 months experience in grounds keeping practices
Must attain certifications to operate forklift, scissor lift, and boom lift

Nice To Haves

Experience with irrigation systems is desired

Responsibilities

Achieve daily and specific goals
Keep all grounds well maintained
Practice safe and efficient work habits
Provide maintenance support to other departments
Repair and upkeep of facilities equipment
Complete daily tasks on time
Receives daily assignments to maintain grounds according to facilities maintenance schedule
Uses hand and power tools to cut and trim grass, trees, and bushes as required to maintain a neat and orderly appearance
Pick up all trash, tree limbs, leaves, grass clippings, etc. around the entire property
Maintain the sprinkler systems
Keep all areas properly watered
Performs minor maintenance, lubrication, and cleaning to assigned tools and equipment. Refers more serious problems to the Maintenance Supervisor
Prepares requisitions slips for supplies, as needed, and secures supervisors’ approval
Returns tools and supplies to the grounds keeping shed at the end of each shift
Report the need for any facility repairs to the department supervisor
Light replacement
Work with maintenance mechanics in the repair of production or facilities equipment
Painting
Cleaning
Cooler service and repair
Roof repairs
Serves as back up for Janitor in their absence
Follow all REDAR rules and policies
Utilize PPE when required
