About The Position

The Groundskeeper participates in openings and closings for interments, entombments, inurnments, and disinterments, and installs memorials and markers. The role also performs grounds and facilities maintenance, grave and marker upkeep, and preventive maintenance on company equipment and facilities. The position requires operating hand tools and mechanical equipment, communicating with associates, contractors, and client families, and working in adverse weather conditions.

Requirements

High school degree or equivalent.
At least six months of experience operating standard equipment.
Acceptable driving record and applicable license(s) to operate equipment and vehicles.
Ability to operate hand-held tools and equipment, including a shovel, pick, rake, sledge hammer, lawn mower, weed trimmer, leaf blower, chain saw, and pump.
Ability to operate mechanical equipment, including a dump truck, tractor, utility vehicle, marker trailer, dump trailer, jack hammer, tamper, and backhoe.
Ability to accurately use measuring devices such as a tape measure or yardstick.
Ability to communicate effectively with fellow associates, contractor personnel, and client families.
Ability to lift objects weighing up to 30 lbs.
Ability to work in various adverse weather conditions.
Understanding of safety and security issues and implications.
Mechanical aptitude.

Responsibilities

Perform openings and closings for burials, entombments, and inurnments.
Set, install, and assemble foundations, memorials, and markers.
Install outer burial containers.
Complete work orders from client families for individual grave and marker maintenance.
Respond to and complete service requests and work orders.
Conduct Interment Verification Procedures.
Prepare a 25-foot radius for burials and ensure the area is clean and neat.
Fill graves; tamp, seed, or sod the area.
Follow company safety rules and Universal Precautions.
Protect company assets by performing regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and facilities.
Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
Complete Dignity University courses and other assigned training.
Adhere to the standards of the Dignity Memorial Promise.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
