About The Position

Florida Institute of Technology is a growing, top-ranked university with over 2,000,000 square feet of facilities to maintain. The position of Groundskeeper is a full-time semi-skilled position under the administrative direction of the Grounds Supervisor and daily supervision of the Grounds Lead. The employee will perform work required for the care, maintenance and development of the lawns, landscape beds, street trees, green-space trees, irrigation system, and general grounds of the university-owned property. This includes picking up trash, debris and emptying out trash containers from assigned areas. The employee will also operate mowers, edgers, trimmers, pruners, blowers, chain saws and other power tools. Employee will occasionally be setting up chairs, tables, tents, stage for special events with potential overtime. The employee will perform other related work as required, some of which will be mechanical and some as designated essential personnel for emergency preparations and recovery.

Requirements

Full-time semi-skilled position
Operate mowers, edgers, trimmers, pruners, blowers, chain saws and other power tools.
Operate University-owned vehicles and equipment.
Wear proper PPE when operating equipment.

Responsibilities

Pick up trash, debris and empty out trash containers from assigned area.
Maintains turf-grass with power equipment/zero-turn radius mower, edger, trimmers and blower.
Care & maintenance of landscape beds, irrigation system and general grounds (mulch, remove weeds, etc.).
Safely operates University-owned vehicles and equiptment.
Wear proper PPE when operating equipment.
Set up for special events including delivering tents, tables, chairs and stage (Graduation, International Fest, etc ...).
Clean, maintain, service and make minor repairs to equipment or report it to Supervisor.
Emergency preparedness and support as directed.
Additional Duties as assigned.
