About The Position

We are seeking a self starting, detail oriented Groundskeeper to join our award winning workplace at The Mather in Evanston. This hands on role requires strong experience with groundskeeping practices, landscaping chemicals, and heavy outdoor equipment, as well as the ability to work independently while maintaining the high standards of our luxury senior living community. Ideal candidates are multi taskers who can anticipate outdoor maintenance needs, take pride in creating an exceptional first impression, and support the Building Services team with larger projects across the community. The schedule for this position is: Monday-Friday 7:00am-11:00pm. Saturday & Sunday are required as needed.

Requirements

  • High school or equivalent.
  • Familiar with operations, maintenance, tools, equipment.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Able to follow directions.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain clean, safe, and attractive grounds and walkways, including debris removal, leaf blowing, and general outdoor upkeep.
  • Perform trash and recycling collection and assist in maintaining trash rooms as part of broader grounds care.
  • Use and maintain landscaping tools, chemicals, and heavy outdoor equipment safely and effectively.
  • Arrange, clean, and maintain outdoor furniture and common outdoor areas.
  • Pressure wash patios, walkways, and high traffic exterior surfaces as scheduled.
  • Water plants, tend to garden areas, and monitor irrigation needs.
  • Inspect, maintain, and replace watering hoses and related outdoor equipment.
  • Remove snow and ice to maintain safe conditions during inclement weather.
  • Support Building Services with larger cross department projects and overall building functions.
  • Identify improvement opportunities and participate in Quality Assurance Process Improvement initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
