About The Position

The Groundskeeper provides lawn care and outdoor maintenance for the main campus, including maintaining grass, gardens, shrubbery, and trees. The position also removes snow from roadways, walkways, parking lots, porches, and steps during winter. The Groundskeeper may act as a driver during driver shortages or periods of peak travel demand. This is a full-time, first-shift position. The listed preferred qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, a valid Ohio driver’s license, and one to five years of grounds maintenance or related experience. A CDL and pesticide license are preferred.

Responsibilities

Mow grass using hand-propelled or riding lawn mowers.
Trim shrubbery and trees under supervision.
Remove litter from campus grounds, roadways, and parking lots.
Plant, transplant, prune, and fertilize flowers, shrubs, and trees.
Assist in maintaining roadways, sidewalks, and parking lots.
Remove leaves from gutters and rake leaves as necessary.
Apply pesticides as directed.
Remove snow using power equipment such as plows, snow blowers, or rotating brushes, or manually with shovels.
Spread salt using automatic spreaders or manually.
Provide routine maintenance on lawn care equipment, including checking oil levels, sharpening blades, changing spark plugs, and mixing gas and oil as required.
Act as a driver during driver shortages or periods of peak travel demand.
