Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalency
  • Related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • No experience required
  • Must have a current valid class "C" driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety.
  • Excellent maintenance and landscaping skills.
  • Proficient in power tools.
  • Dependability.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Herbicide/Pesticide Applicator's License preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect athletic fields, equipment, and any public facilities on a daily basis as needed.
  • Participate in training and job safety programs to include proper use and maintenance of all hand and power tools, mobile equipment, procedures and first aid.
  • Perform equipment maintenance, repair, and cleaning daily.
  • Replace damaged parts.
  • Ensure fluids in all equipment pieces are maintained at appropriate levels.
  • Apply fertilizers and herbicides, seasonally.
  • Repair irrigation system, when needed.
  • Maintain and use water pumps.
  • Water grounds manually with a hose or garden sprinkler.
  • Provide assistance alongside volunteers and public to maintain assigned areas.
  • Assist with special projects.
  • Provide assistance and support to other divisions within the department as needed.
