The Grounds Supervisor is responsible for maintaining the Grand Canyon Railway property grounds, irrigation systems, snow removal and landscaping.

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid Arizona Driver’s License, and be able to comply with the Xanterra/GCR Company Vehicle Policy.
  • Must have working knowledge and experience with MS Office Suite, (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Minimum four years related experience in grounds maintenance.
  • Minimum of one year’s experience in a leadership role

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the hospitality industry as it relates to grounds maintenance.
  • Knowledge of current National Uniform Building Codes that pertain to irrigation and water supply systems.

Responsibilities

  • Fully understand and support Xanterra’s Mission Statement, Cultural Pillars, Community Commitment and Core Values.
  • Ensure that staff completes and adheres to all prescribed Company, statutory, regulatory, and departmental policies, procedures and trainings regarding worker safety, risk management, environmental policies, HAZMAT, HAZCOM, confined space, lockout/tagout and vehicle operation.
  • Ensure irrigation schedules are properly developed and followed to prevent plant loss while implementing an effective weed control program.
  • Operate an effective 24/7 snow control program that maintains safety throughout the property as weather demands, including but not limited to plowing, shoveling, and de-icing.
  • Monitor weather forecasts to coordinate "on-call" shifts and emergency response teams in preparation for inclement weather.
  • Maintain and demonstrate high levels of customer service and leadership for all staff and guest.
  • Works with Facility Maintenance leadership to address guest feedback, employee concerns, maintenance issues.
  • Support Facility Maintenance Manager in documentation regarding employee performance and accident or injury reports as needed.
  • Conduct daily kickoff and wrap-up meeting with the grounds crew and coordinate with other facilities supervisors as needed.
  • Provide technical training for staff, reviewing and offering additional support as needed.
  • Maintain and operate all hand and power tools including lawn mowers, edger, trimmers and snow removal equipment etc.
  • Maintain and care for vegetation including disease identification, fertilization, weeding, trimming, pruning, transplanting and planting.
  • Maintain fire defensive perimeter around assigned buildings.
  • Trim trees, shrubs and other vegetation as required and properly dispose of clippings.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on all assigned power tools and mowers.
  • Assist Facility Maintenance Manager with time off request and scheduling updates as needed.
  • Ensure that all personal protective gear is worn when performing job functions that require it.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of in-house landscaping projects, including feasibility, cost and priority.
  • Support all property events and personal as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
