About The Position

The Groundskeeper Skilled is responsible for the overall physical appearance of the premises at the Berry St Plant. The role primarily involves maintaining the plant grounds outdoors, including weed eating, trimming, pulling weeds, emptying outdoor trash bins, and picking up loose trash. Some assignments may take place inside the facility as directed. The position involves standing and walking for most of the shift, working with chemicals, and working in varying weather conditions. Days per week and hours per day will vary, and weekend work is frequent.

The employee must operate a forklift and have the required certification, complete chemical loading and unloading training, and have spill-control responsibilities and training. Duties may also include offal work and other tasks assigned by the supervisor, including work according to supervisor instructions at wastewater. The role may require lifting 5 to 70 pounds.

This is a first-shift position paying $17.15 per hour. It is slated only for team members currently working at this facility or complex. Former Tyson Foods team members must observe a 180-day waiting period, and applicants with more than two previous Tyson employments will not be considered. Relocation assistance is not available. Applicants must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodation.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and pass an MVR check.
• Must not have any DUI/DWI convictions within the last 12 months.
• Must be able to lift from 5 to 70 pounds at times.
• Must complete or have chemical loading and unloading training.
• Must have forklift operator certification.
• Must have spill-control training and responsibilities.
• Must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Former Tyson Foods team members must observe a 180-day waiting period.

Nice To Haves

• One year of experience in groundskeeping, lawn maintenance, or landscaping is preferred.
• Small engine repair knowledge is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the plant premises and grounds to keep the property clean and orderly.
• Operate a forklift, with certification.
• Weed eat, trim, and pull weeds as needed.
• Empty outdoor trash bins and pick up loose trash.
• Complete chemical loading and unloading duties and follow applicable training.
• Perform spill-control duties.
• Perform offal duties and other tasks as directed by the supervisor.
• Work at wastewater according to the supervisor’s instructions.
