About The Position

This position performs maintenance duties and assists in sanitation control, including repairing damage to Tribal buildings and performing lawn maintenance on Nation grounds. The role also involves assisting with minor construction repairs to fencing, buildings, and walkways, as well as seasonal upkeep such as snow removal, ice prevention, leaf removal, flower planting, and ground watering. The Groundskeeper will maintain Prairie People's Park and Tribal buildings, and assist in event preparation. A key component of this role is participation in a skilled trade apprenticeship during the mowing off-season, focusing on Electrical, Commercial HVAC, or Plumbing trades.

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license free of occupational restrictions.
  • Must be insurable with the Nation's insurance carrier.
  • 1-2 years of applicable lawn, horticulture/gardening, or groundskeeping experience.
  • Strong interest in self-development and desire to learn chosen trade.
  • A high school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

  • Performs maintenance duties and assists in sanitation control.
  • Assists or repairs any damage to Tribal buildings as needed.
  • Performs lawn maintenance and upkeep on Nation grounds.
  • Assists in any minor construction repair regarding fencing, buildings, walkways, etc.
  • Seasonal upkeep/maintenance (snow removal, ice preventative measures, leaf removal, flower planting, ground watering, etc.).
  • Maintains Prairie People's Park and Tribal buildings.
  • Assists in preparation for upcoming events.
  • Participates in a skilled trade apprenticeship during mowing offseason (Electrical, Commercial HVAC, or Plumbing).
