About The Position

This is maintenance and personal services work in caring for the grounds at a state building complex. Work includes overseeing and working with a crew in preserving and improving the appearance of the grounds. Work is performed under general supervision.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of landscaping and groundskeeping techniques.
  • Knowledge of equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather.
  • Ability to supervise crew.
  • One (1) year experience in groundskeeping work demonstrating leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the seeding, watering, mowing, and raking of lawns in order to maintain grounds.
  • Monitors the digging of flower beds and planting, weeding, and tending flowers and shrubs in order to beautify grounds.
  • Oversees snow removal activities in order to ensure accessibility and safety of personnel.
  • Applies insecticides, fungicides, and other chemicals in order to control pests.
  • Repairs and maintains tools and equipment in order to ensure equipment is safe and maximize availability.
  • Oversees rubbish, leaves and other refuse removal in order to ensure area appearance meets established standards.
  • Monitors and oversees the repair of benches, paths, and other articles on the grounds in order to ensure user safety.
