About The Position

Person to perform assigned labor tasks to assist in proper grounds maintenance of outside areas at the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa that are primarily not within the golf course boundaries.

Requirements

Must follow proper grooming and dress standards set forth by the Employee Handbook.
Ability to work with others as a team.
Ability to pick up new tasks with proper training.
Ability to complete job assignments without direct supervision for most of the day.
Being polite to and thoughtful of others, guests and co-workers.
Ability to withstand extended hours of shoveling, raking, holding and operating a gas powered string trimmer and working on your knees.
Ability to withstand extended hours of sitting on rough riding power equipment.
Frequent bending to work on the ground and lifting of things off the ground.
Ability to lift awkward objects weighing up to 60 pounds and sometimes more, from the ground to at least waist high.
Must be able to understand that last minute requests and changes to their assignments will occur periodically.
Must be able to adapt to these changes to address the new priorities.
Working in outdoor conditions to the different seasons of Northern Michigan is a must.
Ready and willing to work in the very early morning.

Responsibilities

Complete all assignments requested of you.
Maintain open line of communication with your direct supervisor.
Perform manual labor which includes shoveling, raking, pushing a lawn mower, planting flowers, trimming trees and shrubs.
Operate power equipment safely and properly to complete assigned tasks.
Work with others as a team to achieve the common goal of assigned tasks.
Report to work on time and complete all scheduled shifts.
Attend monthly safety meetings and any pre-scheduled department meetings.
Assist other departments when requested.
Help train other employees on certain job tasks when necessary.
Understand and abide by environmental practices of the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa.
Be a self starter and look for ways to improve upon your performance on a daily basis.
Other duties as assigned.
